The Creativty Challenge ~ Jan 29.2010

 Jan 29
Challenge yourself and stay Creative

1. Do something new every time you make your art.
2. Look for new possibilities and solutions, try new material and processes
3. Keep an open mind, never say NO when you could say “I’ll try that”
4. Look around you – really LOOK! See the inspiration in the everyday stuff.
5. Don’t be afraid to fail, embrace the “happy accidents”, look for new opportunities in your failed artwork
6. Challenge the rules, do the same idea again but in a different style

7. Research the subject or idea you are working on, become the expert, fall in love with it.
8. Don’t be logical, keep it fun and PLAY!
9. Practice Practice Practice
10. Stay focused, Keep working, Never Give Up
11. Don’t rely on the experts, go with your own intuition
12. BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE CREATIVE !!

Creativity ~ where is it? jan 26, 2010

 Jan 26

Creativity ~ where is it?

Creativity. It’s not “Smoke and Mirrors”.

There is no Magic.
There is no Mystery.
Creativity is in everyone. The seeds are there.
You just have to feed and nurture it. You can look for your bliss and search for your muse until the cows come home. But you won’t find them until you look deep down inside yourself. You have all the answers.
The question is -

Do you want to look hard enough to find them?

January 12, 2010 Ancestor Pot

I made my own Ancestors Pot . . . What is the Ancestors pot?

It is a vessel used as a connection to the other world, to communicate with your ancestors and your Gods! The Ancestors Pot is a kind of magic mailbox by which your wishes are sent out into the universe to your forefathers asking them to please help with the fulfilment of your wishes.
I wrote 10 wishes (goals for 2010) - start each wish with "I" and use the present tense. I put the wishes in my bedazzled box from Pier One (historically Ancestor Pots were ceramic, and I'm sure there is alot of spirituality involved - I don't mean to belittle this belief or practice - this way works just fine for me). Now, I put the box safely out of sight, I won't think about these wishes, I'll just let my ancestors do their work. ( I got this idea from the January 2nd blog of http://bilderundworte.blogspot.com/)

My Goals and only my goals!

Jan 8
Wow or OMG! My 2010 Calendar is filled with All the "To Do's"
from my List of Goals - filled from January through December!!
What was I thinking to make such an industrious list - you would think I actually had time - like I didn't have a full time job!! Like I didn't have a husband, a house, and two dogs!
"Accomplishing something takes unwavering commitment to daily action"
~ Rick Dibiasio
OK - so now I'm done crying and the pity party is over. This calendar is mine and only mine. These Goals are mine and only mine. So, I decided that it is ok - more than ok - expected - that I review these goals quarterly, that I am allowed to change, delete, and add goals.

Take action everyday toward your Goals

Jan 7.2010

My List of Goals for 2010 is complete!!
. . . the number of paintings I will need for the gallery, and for upcoming shows, new work for ebay and etsy, what new galleries to contact, publishers to submit to, new stories to write, stories to illustrate, new projects, new ideas I want to try, books to read, marketing for on-line business, facebook, blog . . . Now comes the Action Plan or the Schedule and along with my spanking brand new 2010 Calendar/Planner . . . I need to map out a schedule for each goal, breaking them down into small doable daily actions and put those actions in the calendar . . .I will plan my whole year with daily actions to accomplish my goals.

2010 Goal Setting

Jan 6
GOAL SETTING . . .
I'm working on my list of Goals for 2010.
I'm trying to visualize where I want to be one year from now.
I'll write down all the things I want to accomplish this year no matter how TRIVIAL or OUT OF THIS WORLD. They are my personal dreams and goals and this is my To Do List, so I can list anything I want.
My most trivial goal is to start a daily art journal and my wildest dream is to have a children's book published.

2010 A New Year ~ A Fresh Start

Jan 5. 2010
2010 A New Year!!   A Fresh start, time to plan and make goals ~ GOALS ~ not resolutions, just goals. Resolutions are bad things that need fixing - my weight, my hair, etc, all negative things.
But GOALS however, are ACTIONS, good things that will move me forward - positive thinking!
