Another candidate for the Art Recycling Process

Here is the second painting that needs a new life. I used the antique buttons on this one also, I'll definitely use them in the new painting. Along with the buttons, I tried to find a home for these pages from an old book, very yellow and brittle pages - love them. But the painting is awful, worse than the other one. I can't wait to gesso this!

Going Green - recyling bad art

I've found some canvases that are just collecting dust. You know the kind - the ones that never quite became that piece of art that you had in your mind, not very good, but still too new to trash! So, after a year I've dug out two of them. I'll show them to you first, then I'm off to find the gesso and start the Art Recyling process.

I fell in love with these antique buttons, along with the coffee filters, it looks like a beach scene. I still love the buttons - but not this painting - let's get the gesso!

6.16.10 The Gardener is back too.

I finished The Jester, so I decided the Gardener needed a second chance also. I brightened her up with colored pencils, replaced her knee - appropriate for a women her age - and fixed the background.
Voila!

June 9th The End of the Jester

So ~ I just could not leave this jester alone! I painted the background with a few layers of a dark glaze and decided he was a "keeper".
I've actually had a few compliments - go figure!

JUN 4th - The JESTER Acrylic Transfer

This Jester made a fairly good acrylic transfer. I added to the number of coats of acrylic medium. I soaked the whole painting in warm water and was able to gently rub off alot of the paper. I painted the area where he would be glued to the canvas with a heavy gesso wash. So in the end - he does not appear to be transparent, his colors are vibrant, and the texture under him does not distract from the image. The transfer is a success! The painting so far is bad, oh so bad - but that's ok cause I am just experimenting!
