Vacation in Texas

I just got back from a vacation week in Dallas Texas, for a family wedding.
The weather was a balmy 80 degrees and sunny -
a far cry from Pennsylvania in the sixties!

My brother-in-law, Ray, owns a Honda dealership in Allen TX,
so I took the opportunity to pick out a few bikes to purchase with my
Mega-Millions winnings!
This Red White & Blue one is festive,

but I think the three-wheeler is more my speed!

And a pair of googles for my daughter! I am the big spender.

We did a little site seeing in Dallas, visited the building where JFK was shot,
and the memorial they built there.

This is Bailey, ancient feline and BITER extrordinaire!

And finally the wedding - beautiful and fun!
Thank goodness they hired a real photographer!
This is Mother & Daughter, Donna & Laura, at the rehearsal dinner.

The bride coming down the aisle.
Really - top right corner, see the white dress.

The bride and groom, Laura & Drew dancing.

The cutting of the cake.

Pastor Mike signs the Marriage Certificate!

Needless to say - there was no ART work happening, not even good photography!!
But lots of fun with great family & friends!

The Ballpoint pen again . . .

The Ballpoint Pen - again - still -

you must be sick of my ball point pen posting

you're asking - is this all you do anymore?

I ask myself the same thing! During my lunch hour, I'm drawing with the pen, or their pen.

In the evening, in front of the TV, I've got the pen.

Really - it's all I do!!

Versatility of Ballpoint Pens

Just like "pen & ink" you can make
line drawings with the ballpoint pen,
but better than "pen & ink",
with the ballpoint pen
you can go one step farther,
you can create half tones.

I was featured in the Sally Little Danyo Gallery at the York Art Association during the month of March.

For those of you living near the Southern York County of Pennsylvania, you should visit the York Art Association. There are monthly shows not only in the Sally Little Danyo Gallery, but also in the Nancy Woodward Gallery. Visit their website for upcoming shows and classes.

Parker black ballpoint pen will produce more than 28,000 linear feet of writing -- more than five miles, before running out of ink.

Where do people find jobs like that?

Imagine - sitting at your desk, your manager comes over and says,

"Here, Judy, I need you to write with this ballpoint pen until it runs out of ink."

TODAY:
The highly popular modern version of Laszlo Biro's pen,
the BIC Crystal, has a
daily world wide sales figure of
14,000,000 pieces.
Biro is still the generic name
used for the ballpoint pen in most of the world.

Biro Pen Art

In the United Kingdom, the ballpoint pen is called a Biro, and Ballpoint pen art is called - Biro Art.

A Brief History of the Ballpoint Pen ~ A Hungarian journalist named Laszlo Biro invented the first ballpoint pen in 1938. Biro had noticed that the type of ink used in newspaper printing dried quickly, leaving the paper dry and smudge-free. He decided to create a pen using the same type of ink. The thicker ink would not flow from a regular pen nib and Biro had to devise a new type of point. He did so by fitting his pen with a tiny ball bearing in its tip. As the pen moved along the paper, the ball rotated picking up ink from the ink cartridge and leaving it on the paper.

Ball Point Pen art

I need to stop comparing my ball point art with all the fabulous pieces I've found online. I'm just going to keep plugging away with this. I'm considering working larger as soon as I find just the right subject. I wonder how this medium would lend itself to abstract art?

So - This is the last Ball Point Pen Artist I will share, at least for now.
I could probably go on for months, but I'll stop here with
Mark Powell
He is known for his ball point pen drawings on envelopes.
Seeing is believing . . .
