Picture Book Illustration

Finally, I am finished the first phase of the children's book I am illustrating. The sketches are in Black & white but I did color this one just to see how it would look

Journey of Revenge Art Journal

It is our choices that make us who we are.
You must chose to be an artist, it doesn't happen by itself.
It's a choice.
A choice to create
A choice to work hard
A choice to put a piece of yourself on a canvas
A choice to let the world see inside your head

Believe the Impossible Art Journal

I'm back to making the collaged Journal pages. Years ago I bought a giant scrapbook from Barnes and Noble from the discount table. Finally, this year I started to fill it up. I used old collages that were destined for the circular file as the background. Added memorabilia and found treasures to fill each page. It takes me forever to journal like this. I glue a scrap of paper in the morning before work. When I get home I glue something else. Because I have left the book intact, I have to wait for things to dry before I can go to another page.

Actually it's a perfect relaxing and Zen like activity to do while I am working on other projects. As I write this, I am working on illustrations for another children's book. Because I am not the author, I would rather not share these illustrations. So I will share these journal pages.

Brilliant Idea for Cards

Paintings that just aren't going anywhere . . .
What do you do with yours?

I've torn them up and incorporated them in new paintings/collages ~ used pieces of them in my journals ~ but here is another brilliant idea ~ use pieces of them as greeting cards ~ add your favorite quote or your original greeting and viola ~ a handmade card with original art.

Go one step further like Leoma Lovegrove, and add your bio and contact info on the back and you have a "marketing" piece.

They manage their time effectively. It’s easy to get distracted, but successful business people avoid this by prioritizing, and focusing on their most important tasks. They learn to delegate smaller duties, and to schedule themselves. And they know that a regular, consistent studio practice is crucial to success, as is creating a work/life balance.
