Art Journal to Canvas - I Am Everything

I Am Everything

I am this painting.
Do I like this painting?
As much as I like myself.
Do I like myself?
Of course ~ I am EVERYTHING.

Art Journal to Canvas - I Am Everything

I Am  Everything

The Title.
The painting began with this title.
I am one with everything.
I am Everything.
I draw faces. Many faces. Young. Old.
I am all of these. We are all of these.
I glues these to the canvas, adding glazes to put them in the layers.

The sunflower face is autobiographical allegorical depiction.
I love sunflowers.
My arms are pages from a book. I love to read.
My dress is made from woven paper and lace.
I am surrounded by me.
She is young. I am young.
But - I am everything.

Ravens - Art Journal to Canvas

FOUR AND TWENTY BLACKBIRDS

This journey is complete. The painting is complete. Except for black, the colors are not normally my favorites, Yellow. Gray. They are meant to be together. They are the soul of this painting.

Do I love this painting.
I love the planning. the drawing. The process.
Do I love the painting.
I love how I react to it.
Do I love the painting.
I love that it's off my easel.

I can't commit to liking and loving while the paint and glue are so fresh. Maybe a few months from now I will commit to an opinion.
One thing for sure - I need a new camera!

Ravens - Art Journal to Canvas

The canvas is covered. Gray, yellow and black is the limited palette. The paint is layered, glazed, dripped and dabbed. The papers are adhered.

Now - the original Raven drawings. This part of my process always gives me pause. The raven drawings. The scissors. Scissors to the drawing - so unnatural and at the same time so liberating. My art no longer controls me when I am able to cut and tear it up.
