The Wedding Gift

The Wedding Gift. My next project. One of my daughter's friends from college is getting married in May. I want to give her a painting - something personal, reflecting her and her new husband. Their faith is the most important thing to them, everything revolves around that.
 FAITH

I went straight for the Madonna and Child.
A copy of an old painting from an old damaged book. I made an acrylic transfer of the painting.

I prepped the canvas with a background reminiscent of stained glass. I didn't do too much detail as I'm sure most of it will be covered up as the painting progresses.

I used these new acrylic paint markers. Great for this part of my painting.

Art Journal - One Fish Two Fish

Paint Paint Paint
Fish Fish Fish

I tried something new.
Painting with white before applying the color.
My paint always requires two or more coats to cover completely.
At a Robert Burridge workshop, he said I needed to use a higher grade of paint. My paints are affordable, more than the student grade, but not the top of the line. So I guess the moral of this story is: you really do get what you pay for.

Art Journal - One Fish Two Fish

Tribe. I have a few Journal pages dedicated to my Tribe. Finding my Tribe is my goal this year. Fish have it figured out. They are a tribe. They know what I want to know.

The Fish painting will be just paint.
No collage. No glue. No paper.
Just fish.

Wild and Wooly Art Event

Nixon Park, York PA.
Wild and Wooly Art Event
Here I am drawing the Praying Mantis in the Bug Room at Nixon Park. I am being visited by the lovely Sommer Family. On my right is a wild and wooly bearded critter who spent the day with me.

Here are some of my fellow artists spread out in the building and outdoors . . .

Once I got home, I finished the Praying Mantis painting - colored pencils 16 x 20". After I have it framed, I will enter it in the "Wild and Wooly" Art exhibit at Marketview in York PA. This exhibit will open "First Friday", June 5th.

I think I will title this:   ALIENS AMONG US

Wild and Wooly Art Event

This Saturday I am one of the many artist to participate in the
Wild and Wooly Art Event at the Nixon Park in York PA.

I visited the Park a few weeks ago to find inspiration and fell in love with the Butterfly display. So I've prepared the start of two drawings - Praying Mantis in colored pencils - and Butterflies in Ink and Zentangle. After a day of drawing/painting/sketching at the park - I will need to create two finished pieces of art for the Wild & Wooly Art exhibits.

Here are the beginning sketches I will take with me to work on at the event. They are both 16 x 20".
