self publishing - INDIE author

The New Adventures of
Jeremy Duck

The cover for my new book is finally complete.
In fact all the illustrations are finished and ready for me to make the book.
Thank goodness for CREATESPACE.
I don't need a traditional publisher to publish my book.
I can do it myself!! I'm an Independent Author - an INDIE !

https://www.createspace.com/

helps you not only to create your own book but to publish it on Amazon.com for distribution.
You can see your work in print.
You don't have to wait months and years for your book to get lost in the publishing slush piles.
You don't have to suffer the rejection letters, at least from the publishers kind enough to send one.
You can do it your self.

painting starts - Purple Stones - Abstract Realism

P U R P L E    S T O N E S
Abstract Realism.
I'm sure it's  been done before,
but it's  a first for me.

Almost satisfied.
Just a few more highlights on the tree branches.

The red at the top was too powerful. So I added a little red on the left. That let the red flow from the top, down to the left and out the bottom. Then the same with the purple. Added a touch more in the middle where the trees were reflecting.

I thought this one looked like a landscape. So I decided to paint a realistic landscape in the middle of this abstract chaos of complimentary  colors.

The painting start. Re-purposed gessoed canvas with poured acrylic ink.

Painting Starts - Giraffe

This start was very abstract and did not speak to me right away. I started with the red and made a cruciform shape. Then I started to paint and define some of the other shapes.
The pattern that developed reminded me of animal skins - giraffe to be precise.
So that's what I went with.

Painting Starts - Poppies

This first painting start was very organic.
Red at the top, turquoise on the bottom. My favorite colors. I added green stems. Didn't really have much choice, it was meant to be this way. So far everything was acrylic paint.

Then I switched to collage. Collaged flower vases. Decorative. But the poppies, being the wild flower that they are, refused to be captured in the vases. So I have a painting of
"Poppies and Vases"
but not
"Poppies in the Vases."

Painting Starts

Painting. I need to do a few new paintings for the summer exhibits. These are recycled canvases. Paintings that didn't work. I gessoed over everything - added tissue paper for texture - dripped acrylic ink - sprayed with water - and let the drips and runs create chaos and havoc. I'll give them a few days to settle into their new skin. Then we'll see what the paintings should be.

Children's Picture Book

Done Done Done

"31" Illustrations. Colored Pencils!

This is the best part of this project! The illustrations. I wish I had a partner to do the rest - the scanning, editing, adding the text to each page, building the book, making it perfect - then self-publishing it in CreateSpace. I might be done this part, but this part is only half! And before I can start the second half, I have to illustrate the cover and the title page.

But you know what they say:
"It's not a job if you love what you do! and I do!"
