Here's a sketch for an abstract realistic painting. Using patterns and lights and darks for interest. I thought I'd put a shadow of Kokopelli in the background, not sure if that will work.

"Summer Blues", another mixed-media weaving painting.

I've included a close-up so you can see all the things I've incorporated in the weaving.

This painting measures 18" x 18".

I love to incorporate weaving in my mixed-media collages.

This time I tried an entire painting based on weaving.

I used wall paper samples for the foundation.

This painting measures 18" x 18" and is titled "Fall Weavings".

I had a request for some RAVEN ACEO's. This one is called "Raven's Egg". It measures the traditional 2.5 x 3.5 and was created with Prisacolor Pencils.

"Raven's Feast", ACEO created with Prismacolor pencils.

Cattails - again. This ACEO/ATC has done realistically with the close up of the cattails but I took the liberty of using the burgundy sky color.

This would make a great mini painting!

The same version of the Cattails - this time I make the colors realistic but still added the fragmenting lines for pattern and rhthym.

While I was working on scenes of lakes, I thought I would focus on the cattails on the shore. I live on a lake, and I cherish the little patch of cattails I am lucky enough to have. They just showed up one year - I did not plant them. This version has been abstracted a little to add some variation of color and patterns.

While I was busy thinking about beaches - I thought I would try a lake scene.

This one turned out rather busy and possibly too fragmented. It might work on a very large canvas. Interesting how the ideas in my head never show up on paper the same way!

I used the same beach scene as the one from yesterday - but this time I made it more abstract.

I'd like to do a painting of this!

Another Beach scene, this one is more realistic.

June 2, 2008

I'm doing some studies from my Key West photos. I'd like to do a beach scene using the Cubist Abstract/Realism tehnique. This has been done in the ACEO/ATC format, 2.5 x 3.5 using prismacolored pencils.
