Nutcrackers - Holiday Art - Pen & Ink

I attended an artist talk with
Robert Oughton, York PA.
He is a black & white, pen & ink artist/illustrator.
What an inspiration!!
So - I decided to do a little pen and ink myself.

Gingerbread House - Holiday Art

The Gingerbread House

Some of my art is unlovable. This is one of those pieces.

Before the blender pencil, I was ready to recycle it.
After using the blender pencil, the colors became more vibrant but it still is a least favorite, overworked, poor composition and just plain yucky.

Elf on a Shelf

Elf on a Shelf
 is the new Christmas rage.
So I decided I needed an Elf also.

I used the blender pencil on the elf above
but not on the Elf below.

Holiday Art

Candy Canes
The iconic Holiday candy.
 Tape them on the gifts.
Stuff them in the cards.
Hang them on the tree.
But never ever eat them.

Tis' the Season - Xmas colored pencil

Tis' the Season

Time to get out the RED and GREEN paints and pencils.
Dig out those nostalgic and iconic holiday themes.
Tried and true and re-done a million times.
Draw that candy cane anyway.
It's  still special.
It's  still you!

AMY'S ABC Coloring Book

Who doesn't love a coloring book!!
Brings back fond memories of when we were young -  the whiff of a box of crayolas, the rough feel of the newsprint and the zen-like reverie of coloring. Good ole days! So I decided to make my own . . .
and I published it through Amazon.com

"Jeremy Duck" self-publishing Indie Author

The New Adventures of Jeremy Duck

A sweet ending - Jeremy and his new friend.

Now that you've seen all the illustrations in the book, I think you are qualified to leave a review on Amazon.com.

As much as I would love a Rave review - I would much rather have an honest review. Keep it short, just a sentence or two would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

The End. Finally. It's been a lot of coloring - many many layers of colors to achieve the results I wanted. I feel like the frog - just LMAO cause I'm done!

So the story has come full circle - past the mall and through the neighborhood. I have to make sure these buildings look just like they did on page one.

You might think I'm getting near the end of the book, only  few illustrations to go. But in my process I don't create one illustration at a time. I work on all the pictures together. I color the sky on each page. The the trees in the background on every page. And so on and so on.Every illustration is completed at the same time.

I like to add characters that follow the main character through the story. Frog seemed logical. Plus I need something to break up all that yellow. He couldn't be green cause there was green foliage. So being logical - the frog is purple - complements the yellow!

Colored pencils are very labor intensive. It took two months, working everyday to complete these 32 illustrations. I used up quite a few yellow pencils!!

A river full of rubber ducks.
What would a real duck do if he landed in the midst of them?
