Colored Pencil Authentic Pansy Girl Journal

Colored Pencil Pansy Girl
She's AUTHENTIC,
wearing her big blue skirt with the even bigger purple pansies.
Not Caring if she looks like everyone else.
Just being herself, just being authentic.

I've tried to be NOT authentic, making art that seems to sell.
I've tried to draw girls with tilted heads and birds and
one motivational word that will change your life.
Just can't make happen!
My pen and pencil reek of moral passion
that causes me to only draw what is
genuine
and sincere
and original
for me and only me!

Red Vase Still Life - Journal/Sketchbook page

The RED VASE
the last of the still life objects for a while
I'm bored of this and need to do something else.
But, I will return to this idea.

And again, the ball point pen finishes this Journal page.

This is Annie Williams, watercolor artist.
Her paintings inspired me to try the Still Life Collages.
Annie "enjoys playing with shapes, pattern and color. Her foregrounds are a few simple objects, usually pots, and backgrounds are created from textiles or old newspaper cuttings, and even some unfinished paintings as a starting point."

I learned about Annie Williams on this blog:
http://makingamark.blogspot.com,
belonging to Katherine Tyrrell, artist & writer.

Colored Pencil Red Haired Girl Journal page

Red Haired Girl in Plaid
Colored Pencil Sketch, with ball point pen background.
The colored pencil sketches make me want to create
a big big colored pencil painting.
My mind is just whirling with ideas.

But you know what the late great Zig Ziglar said . . .
"You don't have to be great to start,
but you have to start to be great."

Colored Pencil Sunflower Journal page

I started the Journal with colored pencils,
I'm so comfortable with them and they are just perfect for a Journal/Sketchbook.
My Sunflower Girl was bright and cheery
and so all alone on the white white page!
So I added sunflowers with my ball point pens
and glued some ephemera from my collage stash!

Ta-Da . . . Mixed Media!

I wish I could take pictures that would do my blog justice.
Photos like Alisa Burke, alisaburke.blogspot.com.
Her blog is so colorful and creative, go check it out!

And . . . a copy of Sunflower Girl made a perfect ACEO!

Journal Sketchbook

Nearly a year ago my dear friend, Linda, gave me a Sketchbook/Journal.
I've had many sketchbooks, as I'm sure all of you have.
I still have them - some brand new, some partially filled,
most with the pages torn out.
But because this one was from Linda,
I felt an obligation to use this gift in the manner in which it was intended.
To fill every page - front to back - leaving the whole book intact!

Linda included encouraging notes - she had high hopes for this book!
So I started drawing in this Journal in June of 2012.
At first I drew my colored pencil drawings,
then moved to be ball point pen, then I attacked the white space . . .

The book is still intact, I've refrained from tearing it apart.
I've carried it around with me since last June and now
I've decided to share this Journal/Sketchbook with you and Linda!

Winter has arrived in Southern Central Pennsylvania.
With a vengance and bitter cold.
We've had some snow, luckily not enough to require the snow blower.
As I walk the neighborhood
 - because my dog loves to walk more that I hate the cold -
I look for the charming snowman from last year.
He's not here yet, but I know he'll be back.

Groundhog Day

The world's most famous furry forecaster,
Punxsutawney Phil,
will pop out of his burrow Saturday morning to tell the nation what our weather will be like for the next six weeks.
Will we have an early spring, or will winter dig in its
heels until mid-March?

According to folklore, if it's cloudy when the groundhog emerges from its burrow Saturday, it will leave the burrow, signifying that winter will soon end. If, however, it's a sunny day, Phil will supposedly see his shadow and, frightened, retreat back into his burrow, and winter will continue for six more weeks.

The current forecast from the National Weather Service is for a cloudy, snowy day, but Phil is a fickle fuzzball, so it's hard to know what he'll do.
