Surrealistic White Rabbit in Colored Pencil

WHITE RABBIT

My colored pencil rabbit is complete. It measures 18 x 24", larger than most of my colored pencil paintings. The forest is soft like I imagined. 

Whimsical.

Layers and layers of colored pencil 
to achieve the color and value I want.

Of course, there is no white rabbit without a pocket watch.

I've set my white rabbit in the forest. I'm hoping the many layers of blended colored pencil will give a soft pastel effect.

Off to work now, there will be many hours of painting with these pencils.

Surrealistic White Rabbit in Colored Pencil

I've always wanted to do a surrealist painting. I admire Mark Ryden's work, so I used his style as inspiration. I've also wanted to do a large colored pencil painting, so I decided to incorporate these two ideas. 

The White Rabbit has been one of my favorite themes. 

But instead of an actual white rabbit, 

I am using a white rabbit mask. 

Sketches first. 

Draw selected sketch on tracing paper. 

Get it right, then transfer the drawing to bristol board paper,

now add COLOR . . .
