Septemer 27, 2008

I have not been adding to the blog for a few weeks and I feel obligated to present a doctor's note. Her are scans of my fractured wrist. The before shot was taken after the emergency room tried to manipulate it the first time. These shots were taken during the surgery. I now have a True Value wrist. It is my right wrist - however I am left handed - so all is good!

Sept. 17, 2008 Whimsical Collage

"COME SEE MY ETCHINGS" Another in my second series of collages - these are whimsical, they are not what you might expect and sometimes require a second look. This collage measures 5" x 7", postcard format, and is created with founds papers mounted on 120# watercolor paper.

Actually - this is the last in my whimsical collage series. Seems appropriate to use the art doll showing her work, rather autobiographical.

I'm always intrigued by the empty eye look. If you could look in them, what would you see, and do you really want to see it?

September 3, 2008 Whimsical Collage

"Raining Mud" Another in my second series of collages - these are whimsical, they are not what you might expect andsometimes require a second look. This collage measures 5" x 7", postcard format, and is created with founds papers mounted on 120# watercolor paper. I found pictures of people covered in mud - very unusual - I cut them from their environment and left them floating on a perfect muddy background. The blue faces, very identifiable, force the viewer to look at them first - then later look at the muddy bodies. The two oddities are not similar and create confusion.

"My Journal Runneth Over" Another in my second series of collages - these are whimsical, they are not what you might expect and sometimes require a second look. This collage measures 5" x 7", postcard format, and is created with founds papers mounted on 120# watercolor paper. This was an exercise in putting together unusual combinations - to make it whimsical. I changed not only faces but sometimes facial features. I limited the choice of papers - there was no perusing through my paper stash - I had to use the collection of found papers in front of me, I love the orange background, I had to find a subtle blue to compliment it.
