Art Journal Drawing with Ink

My 2015 Journal is completed, stuffed full of things important only to me. That's the way Journals should be.

This year I visited The Harry Potter Theme Park at Universal Studios in Florida. I love the Harry Potter books and this theme park was just as magical! I bought a couple post cards, cause I am a big spender - and glued them in my journal. I added the paint strip because I can't leave the hardware store without selecting at least one of these. Then I filled the rest of the page with my own drawing.

The page makes sense to me - and that's the only thing I care about.
The journal is mine. It is not supposed to make sense to anyone else.

I am sharing my journal pages to show that you can put absolutely anything that you love in your journal. It is not for sale, it is not for an exhibit, it is only a repository for things you want to keep and remember.

Game Night Painting

The deck of cards are collaged on the game board.
I've made some laser copies of the cards,
these are easier to collage around the edges and sides.

I've also made a few cards in smaller sizes for a variety.
After I found a composition that I liked,
I drew some multi-colored checkers to help the visual flow.

And because I just can't leave things simple -
I added a few of my Jokers to spice it up.
Done
time to play cards

Game Night Painting

 The deck of cards.
I am creating these using ball point pens - my favorite drawing tool - and bristol board.

The Jokers are my own creation but the Kings and Queens are from post cards. The post cards were a gift from a friend, they came from the Lourve gift shop in France - and I am going to cut them up and collage them into my painting.

Is nothing sacred to me?   Not when it comes to collage!!

Game Night Painting

My latest project - I already have the title:
GAME NIGHT
I started with the game board, square of course.

I've incorporated designs from
Parcheesi,
Backgammon,
Chess,
and a deck of cards.

The board is painted with acrylics, I love the Parcheesi colors.

But I want the board to look vintage, so I add layers and layers of glazes to antique it.

This is just the background. I'm going to create my own deck of playing cards as the focal point. These cards will probably cover most of this board. Too bad - I really like this vintage board.

Where's Waldo?

Zentangle Dog Butterflies

What do you see when you look at this drawing?
Butterflies? How many?
Do you see a dog's face? Look again . . . see it now?
After hours of working on this butterfly zentangle, all I ever saw were the butterflies.
Then someone pointed out the dog face.
Cheese and Rice - what do I do now?
I considered reworking it. Taking the emphasis from the dog face.
I just couldn't go back in. I know I would ruin it.
So - I did the only logical thing - I gave the drawing a new name -
Zentangle Dog Butterflies.
