Scarabs

I'm still painting away - the gallery calls!
This is a painting I started a year ago.
A fractured abstract version of a
decorative scarab.

It has a long way to go -
and I'm still not sure where it's headed .
. .

I used an incredible stencil - clock mechanisms.
In Egypt, the scarab was seen as a symbol of the heavenly cycle and of the idea or rebirth or regeneration. So I thought the stencil symbolizes time and the passage of time - so it seemed appropriate to use it in this painting.

Elephants - but not the pink ones!

I had a request for another
 elephant painting.
I kept the original composition,
changed the background
a little and reduced
the amount of glazing.
All sounds so technical for such
a whimsical and fun painting . . .

Humans of New York

Obviously, I am the last person on earth to discover this book. I heard about it on Elvis and Duran radio, checked it out on Amazon - fell in love and purchased it the same day. Now I follow it on Facebook. I love the photographs but mostly I love the wonderful and profound things that ordinary people say.

Iggy and Izzy Lizards in Acrylic

I'm finished the Lizards, but I don't know
how to treat the background. The original
yellow seems a little garish and harsh, so
then I tried beige. Boring, very boring.
Sounds like the three bears - too bright -
too dull - then just right . . .

Zentangle Lizards

The Lizards,
Izzy and Iggy
have lots of texture and color.
Definitely having fun with them.
