When I acquire a new journal book, the first thing I do is "prepare" the pages by eliminating the "blank white page". I add splashes of color and runs and drips with watercolor paint. Sometimes I glue some collage paper for a background. By preparing the pages I am starting the journal at the same time. So when I finally sit down to "journal", it won't be the first time I've been with the book. We have already become familiar with each other.
