Resolutions for 2011 - the Ancestors Pot

As I consider my 2011 wishes, I decided to share this story of my latest revelation. Right before Christmas, I was visiting a new found blog. The entry for that day offered the readers - that would be me - the opportunity to voice a complaint, concern, gripe, a regular bitch session. So I commented – blah blah blah, because I'm always ready to bitch. And by the end of the day I was among 25+ other bitchers. As I read through the various complaints about work, co-workers, family, even pets, etc , I was suddenly embarrassed to be in their company. I wished I could have retracted my gripe. I wanted to go back and write something positive, but I didn’t. Later that week, as I was cleaning a bookshelf, I came across my dusty copy of Sarah Ban Breathnach’s Simple Abundance – and I recalled her Gratitude Journal. And finally, today, I was reading an article about resolutions, suggesting that instead of asking for something, make a resolution to be grateful for something.

Most of the time I can be dense, very very dense. But this time I saw it – the signs from the universe, 3 big signs, in flashing LED super size brigth white lights. Gratitude.

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow."                   -Melody Beattie
